Maya Abdominal & Visceral Massage in Sarasota, FL.
Maya Abdominal and Visceral massage is the perfect modality for women of all ages, including young women ages 10 and up. Each session offers a richly diverse approach, which may include electro-lymphatic therapy, essential oils, breath work, vaginal steaming, herbal applications, and energy work. Maya Abdominal & Visceral Massage promotes optimal alignment of the abdominal organs and the womb. It helps to increase organ function optimization for those with digestive complaints and enhances fertility and reproductive health.
When reproductive organs shift, they can constrict normal flow of blood and lymph, and disrupt nerve connections. By shifting the uterus back into place, homeostasis, or the natural balance of the body, is restored in the pelvic area and the surrounding organs. Toxins are flushed and nutrients that help to tone tissue and hormones are restored to normal order. This is essential for healthy menstrual cycles, helping to ease menopausal symptoms, pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
Old adhesions from invasive treatments to the pelvic and abdominal area, including fibroid tumors, endometriosis, and cesarean delivery are diminished when addressed by abdominal massage. In addition, digestion, urinary and bladder problems can be helped. Manual therapy also plays an important role in improving digestive system function and post-surgical adhesion syndromes. These syndromes may include edema in the legs and a wide array of digestive issues.
Abdominal massage also works directly with the central nervous system. This is due to the majority of the central nervous system residing in the abdomen. By allowing the body to rest in the parasympathetic system and out of the sympathetic fight or flight system that disrupts the bodies ability to heal and rest, massage may play a huge role in digestive disorders and nervous system dysfunction.
Healing takes time, especially when our body has been out of alignment for a long period of time, or there has been trauma. For some, it may take one treatment. Most likely it will take a series of 3, or up to several months for the work to integrate and the body to realign. Ligaments and muscles need time to re-strengthen and adjust to their new positions in the body. This is not a quick fix and we can assess during your first session. All of this work is done externally, making it safe and appropriate for all women.
Maya Abdominal Massage may help with the following symptoms:
Fertility Helps to tone & re-align the uterus and increase blood flow to reproductive organs for optimal function. Develops a strong connection between a woman, her womb, & her body.
Endometriosis & PCOS Many women with later stages of endometriosis have organs stuck together or develop scar tissue after surgery and can benefit from better blood & lymph flow, and gentle nerve stimulation. With manual therapy, we are working to mobilize and create more ease in the nervous system and less holding patterns in the musculature of the abdomen. I recommend three sessions a month, one session between period and ovulation, and two between ovulation and the next menstrual cycle, for three months.
Dysmenorrhea (Painful Cycle), Menorrhagia (heavy cycle), Amenorrhea (No cycle) Assists in increasing blood flow to the entire pelvis and balances hormones through detoxification of the liver and digestive organs.
Post Partum Support Supports the body in the healing process by softening scar tissue from c-sections, cleanses the womb, and properly repositions the uterus.
Supports the body after miscarriage By reconnecting women to their center and cleansing the womb thru gentle massage and supportive, nurturing touch. Supports a woman's nervous system and allows her space to heal and feel supported.
Peri-menopause & Menopause By assisting the body to naturally balance hormones and harmonize the body-mind connection.
Chronic pelvic pain and lower back pain Massaging the entire pelvic bowl and easing the tissue around the sacrum helps to decrease pain and increase circulation to the pelvis. This is VERY effective in the treatment of chronic low back pain, sciatica, & pelvic inflammatory disease.
Digestive disorders Decreases inflammation and helps ease discomfort caused by disorders such as SIBO, Chron's Disease, IBS, Lyme Disease, Illiocecal Valve Dysfunction, spastic colon, & chronic constipation. The intestines can kink and rotate when our body is stressed, causing more dysfunction in the gut. The massage helps to soothe the digestive tract and move debris through the intestines for optimal function and motility. By clearing out the digestive organs of old debris and allowing them to function properly, the gut then has the opportunity to heal.
Urinary issues We indirectly work with the bladder, externally, by easing the tissues and ligaments that support the bladder and can cause inflammatory complaints such as: interstitial cystitis, painful urination, frequency & urges.
Hiatal hernia and acid reflux The upper abdomen is given a deep, thorough massage to loosen the tight muscles around the stomach and the arteries that feed the digestive system and eliminative organs with their vital blood supply. The diaphragm is gently massaged as we work with the breath, allowing relaxation of tight musculature.
Support after abdominal and reproductive surgeries Helps to restore function of the gut and reproductive organs by gently working to mobilize and create more ease in the nervous system and less holding patterns in the musculature of the abdomen. By manually and gently working the tissues without "ripping" adhesions apart, we are increasing circulation and repositioning the organs.
My work is forever transforming and growing into broader offerings, not only working with reproductive issues, but also with more intense complaints such as chronic pelvic pain both in men and women; working with softening severe scar tissue from past surgeries, such as c-section & abdominal surgeries, which cause disruption in digestive function; and working directly with the nervous system after trauma from surgeries and intense life experiences. I have also found the work is extremely helpful in decreasing inflammation caused by Lyme Disease & most auto immune disorders.
