Therapeutic Yoga
Rest. Release. Restore.
1:1 Therapeutic Yoga Sessions
Private Yoga Therapy is a place of deep restoration and a sanctuary of peace for you to find ease, comfort, and strength in your body.
Whether your desire is to strengthen your asana practice and fine tune a more active yoga practice, or dive deep into restorative yoga, 1:1 yoga sessions are designed to create more coherence between the mind, the body, and the heart. The therapeutic yoga I teach is a holistic approach to healing the body through asana (poses), pranayama, and meditation and is based on the belief that there are poses to suit every constitution, no matter your age or physical conditions/limitations.
We are all stressed and live in a stressed out world. Our tendency is to constantly be do-ing. Our body’s crave less and long for nurturing practices to bring us home to who we truly are. It is in deep rest and healing poses that we can heal and find balance. Yoga therapy is here to help guide you back to your body and your own energy. It is a way to create more self awareness and connection with the patterns of tension in your body and the busyness of an over active mind. Yoga therapy can also be a tool to ease your body into releasing emotional blockages and trauma.
As a trauma informed yoga therapist trained in Somatic Psychology & other mind-body healing techniques, my focus is helping you create more spaciousness and ease thru passive stretching. Restorative yoga is perfect for those who experience anxiety, depression, PTSD, postpartum depression, those trying to conceive or experiencing hormonal imbalances, chronic stress, and all other nervous system disorders.
Yoga Sutra 11.47: Perfection in an asana is achieved when the effort to perform it becomes effortless, and the infinite being within is reached”.
Weekly Yoga Classes With Heather
THERAPEUTIC YOGA CLASSES
Therapeutic yoga is designed to gently support the body’s needs as it changes with age, focusing on improving mobility, balance, and overall well-being.
This class combines slow, mindful movements, gentle stretches, & functional movement to help ease stiffness, reduce pain, and improve flexibility.
This class is ideal for those managing chronic conditions, recovering from injury, or simply looking to maintain strength and vitality as they age. With an emphasis on safety and comfort, modifications and props are used to ensure that each participant can work within their own limits. This class provides a supportive and welcoming environment where older adults can enjoy the benefits of yoga tailored specifically to their needs.
BKS Iyengar states, “Yoga is a gift to older people when the recuperative power of the body is declining and resistance to illness is weakened. Yoga generates energy and does not dissipate it. With yoga, one can look forward to a satisfying, healthier future….”. “Unlike other exercises, yoga results in the concentration of immunity cells in areas affected by disease, and thus improves immunity. That is why the ancient sages called yoga a therapeutic as well as a preventive science.”
For those who are familiar, my teaching style is Iyengar inspired
